중국 햄스터는 중국북부와 몽골의 사막에 서식하고 있는 설치류이다.

오늘날 생명 의학 연구에 사용되는 중국햄스터 난소(CHO)세포 라인은 다른 설치류 게놈연구에 도움이 될 것이다.
